    Liturgy Commission

One Year Objectives

  1. To facilitate planning in all areas of liturgy and worship such as:
  2. To implement a regular, periodic (annual) recruitment and training program to ensure there are adequate numbers of ministers for Mass.
  3. To develop and distribute a Time and Talent Survey of liturgy and worship activities.
  4. To compile and distribute to appropriate parish contact people the results of the Time and Talent Survey.
  5. Using the Time and Talent Survey results, recruit additional ministers in the following areas:
  6. Assist the "minister schedule person" by updating lists of minister names and phone numbers.
  7. Explore the feasibility of establishing a fund to hire a song director who would recruit and train singers, i.e. establish a choir.
  8. Facilitate minister participation at assigned Masses by posting schedules on church bulletin boards and publishing in parish bulletin.
  9. Incorporate parish youth in ministry assignments at all Masses.
  10. Meet with pastoral staff on a regular basis, i.e. monthly to discuss improvements and changes in Mass presentation and format.

Three Year Plan

  1. Distribute Time and Talent Survey to facilitate a continued supply of ministers, both adult and youth.
  2. Develop a "phone tree"mechanism such that needed substitutes for Mass ministers can be easily obtained.
  3. Rotate "musical/cantor scheduler" and "liturgy minister scheduler" among several parishioners, i.e. so the same two people don't do this for a long time.
  4. Update the Liturgical Ministers Handbook and distribute it to the appropriate ministers.
  5. Develop a mechanism to invite an"outside' choir croup to participate at Mass during the Advent season.
  6. Review on an annual basis the need (if any) for changes in minister attire, minister duties, and basic function.
  7. Evaluate sponsor couple programs and upgrade/expand as needed.
  8. Utilizing the Time and Talent Survey results to teach and recruit new couples for the Sponsor Couple program.

Five Year Plan

  1. Incorporate important parish historical information and relevant minister duties into a handbook entitled, Outline of Faith Sharing at St. Wenceslaus.
  2. Distribute this handbook to RCIA candidates and catechumens and new parishioners at St. Wenceslaus.
  3. Host a "choir festival" at St. Wenceslaus in which various choirs would share their talents at a program open to the general public.
  4. Explore the feasibility of developing a diocesan wide minister exchange program (St. Wenceslaus minister would visit and participate in other parishes).
  5. Review on an annual basis the need for new or additional baptismal garments, funeral servers, altar servers, etc.
  6. Assess the feasibility of combining Sponsor Couple program(s) among current city parishes.
