One Year Objectives

To recruit five (5) new commission members by January 2000 through annual
"Newcomers Dinner" and coordinate this effort with an "Activities Fair" at
church.

Along with recruiting new members, develop a more effective and consistent
commission recruiting tool by:

Personal phone calls by commission chairperson

Doing more personal asking for commission volunteers

Publishing commission activities in the parish bulletin and newsletter

Ensure that each commission activity is planned and implemented to its fullest
potential.

Recruit a commission chairperson by January 2000.

Request status reports of each commission activity in a timely manner to
ensure adequate presentation at Parish Council meetings.

Commission should meet on an alternate monthly basis.

Recruit a commission recorder by January 2000.

Gather relevant social action information in Johnson County area for possible
incorporation into commission "agenda".

Advertise more completely Social Action activities in parish bulletin and
newsletter.
Three Year Plan
-
Continue to analyze and ensure that Social Action Commission has active members
and that its activities remain viable and relevant.

Incorporate select (2-3) Johnson County social activities into Social Action
Commission.

Determine needs of parish members that would be addressed by Social Action
Commission (through Time and Talent Survey).

Form a Senior Citizen/Youth Group that could share experiences and their
effects on their spiritual life.

Develop adult group that would coordinate work-related "field trips" to have
with parish youth (work place experiences).

Establish "sister" parish in another community, state or country.
-
Develop parish service program that does minor repairs and clean up for "need,v"
parishioners.
Five Year Plan

Explore select state or national social action activities for possible commission
involvement.

Select two state or national social action activities for commission involvement.

Ensure that "sister"parish involvement continues to grow through active social
action involvement of the commission and parish.

Recruit three (3) volunteers from interested St. Wenceslaus parishioners
to become trained counselors at the Iowa City Crisis Center.

Expand "needy" repair/clean-up pro to beyond Iowa City boundaries
